Buy a brick for a loved one

Written by Pat Duke and Hilly Alexander on .

Perhaps you’ve noticed the commemorative bricks by the Library’s entrance.

We think it’s a great way to honor a family member or friend or show your appreciation for the Library. It also presents an interesting challenge to come up with just the right thing to say when you only have 3 lines of no more than 18 characters including spaces. Here are some examples:

Hug A Book!

Once you order a brick for $100 it takes about 6-8 weeks until the plaque is ready for installation. Since we started this program the Foundation has raised $16,000 for the Library. Contact us if you’d like more information.

Genealogists Find Support and Success at the Wilsonville Library

Written by Malia Laughton on .

Wilsonville Public Library has hosted a growing and increasingly popular genealogy club during the past year. The free club is open to both inexperienced and experienced genealogists, and focuses on introducing participants to new tools and research tips to aid in family research. Previous meeting topics have included library resources and databases, genealogy for beginners, useful genealogy websites, immigration and passenger list research, common genealogical abbreviations, and evaluation of software for Macintosh and PC.

Club meetings are held in the library at 1pm on the third Monday of each month, and are open to all. At each meeting, participants are introduced to genealogy tools and topics, with open discussion following. Participants are encouraged to bring any general or specific genealogy questions to the attention of the Club during this time.

2013 Board of Directors

We have been Wilsonville Library Foundation board directors for about 5 years now and are excited about launching this blog. It gives us the opportunity to tell people about the great work the Foundation does, sort of behind the scenes, to help the Library thrive. We'll update you on how many kids attend Science Adventure programs this summer and we'll tell you about new opportunities the Library is pursuing with our financial help. Our friends know that we love to talk about our great Library. So, let us know if you have questions or suggestions. Use “Contact Us” to send us an email or talk to me (Hilly) at the Library.
