November Artist: Ron Sheldon Ron painted water colors for several years. Then he was ready for something new. Ron now paints on copper, using a technique he developed himself. You can find out how he does it at the Library. We have numerous examples of Ron’s copper based paintings on the Art Wall inside the Wilsonville Public Library this month. On October 19th the Wilsonville Public Library Foundation hosted its third annual Evening of Imagination for over 120 library supporters. The night was filled with food, friends, fun, and support for the Wilsonville Public Library. The evening began with guests eagerly bidding and out bidding on a bountiful table of silent auciton items from generous contributors from the business community. From 1st graders petting a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach to an eleven year old testing ph levels of plants, the Wilsonville Public Library’s “Summer Science Adventure,” now in its fourth year, inspires kids and families to explore science in a variety of ways: Science Logs: Every child who signed up for the Summer Reading Program also received a “Science Log.” Their challenge: to complete at least 10 science activities over the summer. Al Rogers, author of “Peonies”, gave a rather unique gift to the Foundation. He signed over the royalties from his book to the Library Foundation yesterday. The book was published in 1995 and is still in demand. Take a look at it (635.8362 PEONIES in the non-fiction collection). Al is 91 now and regrets not having thought of this sooner.
