Over 80 people listened attentively as Rich Thompson used photos and maps to talk about the ice age Lake Missoula Floods and their lasting effects on Oregon geography. The Floods occurred periodically over an estimated 2,000 years at the end of the ice age, covered the Portland area with up to 400 feet of water, and propelled ice, rock and mud across eastern Washington and Oregon.
The Wilsonville Public Library Foundation is co-sponsoring Wilsonville History nights at the McMenamins Old Church, collaborating with the Wilsonville Boones Ferry Historical Society and McMenamins. Wilsonville History Nights have featured talks on slavery in Oregon, the legacy of Tom McCall, and the photographs of Ralph Eddy.
