The Foundation sponsors a variety of presentations and lectures that stimulate curiosity and explore fascinating topics.
The Foundation funds programs such as Profiles with Dr. Bill Thierfelder. This ongoing series of 60-minute presentations explores the people, places, and events that shape our lives, our world, and our universe.
Other programs we fund include classes and workshops on a variety of subjects, from literature and writing, to genealogy and history, to card making and calligraphy.

Heritage Collection
Find local history and genealogy resources
With the Foundation’s support, the Library has built a strong local history and genealogy collection with extensive statewide and regional resources, including local cemetery indexes, as well as many helpful guides and sources for U.S. and international research. Library staff members are available and eager to help get you started and assist with challenging genealogical questions.
Library patron Carole Hanna says,
“I was looking for information on my maternal grandmother who was first-generation Irish. I had hit a brick wall and told library staff I could not find out what happened to my great grandmother and I could not figure out how my grandmother (a nice Philadelphian Irish Catholic girl) had met my grandfather (a railroad engineer from Illinois) who was 13 years her senior.
Staff agreed to take on the mystery, found all sorts of stuff I had not found, and cleared up both questions. Not only that, she did it very quickly. She is a great asset to the genealogy crew at the library and I certainly appreciate her work.”
