Newest Little Free Library in Wilsonville Dedicated to Eric Lucas

When Dave and Sharon Lucas, residents of Wilsonville’s Rivergreen Neighborhood, wanted
to honor their late son, who was an avid reader, they reached out to Kristi Park, who is the
project coordinator for Wilsonville Little Free Libraries.  The Lucas family donated a Little
Free Library in memory of their son, Eric (1979-2021).  Dave and Sharon said, “Our son had
a love of books. We called him   Eric-ipedia as he had such a broad knowledge of so many
different subjects.”
The new Little Free Library was installed in July at the entrance of the Rivergreen
neighborhood on Willamette Way East.  Sharon said, “We feel Eric would appreciate sharing
his love of books and the knowledge he gained from them with this library and Wilsonville’s
volunteers make it happen.”
And Sharon is correct, volunteers do make it happen! When a request went out for volunteers
to install the Little Free Library, local residents, Mark Reep, who had experience starting up
over 100 Little Free Libraries in Bakersfield, California and Joshua Burkes of Burkes Group
Real Estate responded.
Through donations and volunteers, six new Little Free Libraries have been installed in 2021
and 2022.  Wilsonville now has over 18 Little Free Libraries including those supported by
donors of the Wilsonville Public Library Foundation and those previously paid for and
installed by members of the community. The Foundation has plans to install six more Little
Free Libraries this year including sites at the Autumn Park Apartments, Wilsonville Meadows
Neighborhood, Walt Morey Park, and the Tivoli Park along Coffee Creek.
