Gift to the Foundation
Al Rogers, author of “Peonies”, gave a rather unique gift to the Foundation. He signed over the royalties from his book to the Library Foundation yesterday. WPLF AT THE KID’S FUN RUN
The WPLF was pleased to participate in the 2013 Wilsonville Kiwanis Kid’s Fun Run with a booth designed to introduce children to the Wilsonville Library Science Adventure program. Gigaflood at McMenamins Old Church
Over 80 people listened attentively as Rich Thompson used photos and maps to talk about the ice age Lake Missoula Floods and their lasting effects on Oregon geography. The Floods occurred periodically over an estimated 2,000 years at the end of the ice age, covered the Portland area with up to 400 feet of water, and propelled ice, rock and mud across eastern Washington and Oregon. Summertime is for exploring Science
“Science Adventure” continues to be a big part of our summer programs for kids. Several hundred kids will earn a cool science prize by completing at least ten “science explorations” over the summer. Everyone who signs up receives a forty-page Science Guidebook to help with ideas for activities.
